Maria Brockhill is from Waitara in North Taranaki. Her iwi affiliations are Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Ruanui, Ngāti Maniapoto.
For nearly 30 years now, Maria and her family have lived at their beachside home at Bell Block, about 10 minutes north of Ngāmotu New Plymouth.
A full time clay artist, Maria has a shop and work studio at her local Bell Block shopping centre. She undertakes commission work direct with customers as well as a busy exhibition schedule.
Maria says “Living with the rugged shoreline in front of our home and with our Ancestral Maunga Taranaki overseeing us all gives me plenty of inspiration in all my clay artworks.“
Maria has her clayworks at Substrate Gallery in New Plymouth; and Kura Gallery in Auckland and Wellington.
