We humans are known for our inability to comprehend things such as large numbers and
relative mass etc. Art for me is essentially a frame of reference. A point in time, life with clutter removed. We need art to understand the other, to have a contextural measure that allows us to spectate and reflect on particular facets of life. Art is an idea, an execution of what it means, how this and this matter and this is actually this, and this is this but also with his, this could be this or this, and this is actually just this.
I work with oil on metal mostly, I absolutely love painting onto old metal, and because it’s generally quite tough it allows for more surface abuse and stressing of the surface. Also, in that metal ages when left in the elements and pauses when dry, I am deeply interested in how that contributes to the conversation in an interesting way, by verifying the passage of time.
