Enquire About Alan's Works

Hodgson was born in 1954 in Paeroa. He has been a regular exhibitor at the Koru on Devon Gallery; and is a foundational artist in the Substrate Gallery in New Plymouth. He is an abstractionist, using mixed media, including paper, oil sticks, acrylic, and fabric, in his works. His interest in urban structures has seen an architectonic style of painting in some of his works. A quadriptych of his was shown in 2024's Puke Ariki Museum's Home Work exhibition. Hodgson: "Art - especially abstract art if any good - should draw in and challenge the viewer; hopefully in an aesthetically satisfying way".
